USGP Driver Day: RC Racing at Oracle HQ

Through longtime client Red Bull USA, The Southern Influence was brought in to produce a USGP Driver Day shoot for Oracle Red Bull Racing. With only two weeks until production, TSI concepted and created a high-speed scale-model RC course inspired by Austin’s Circuit of the Americas, complete with interactive obstacles designed to put the drivers’ racing skills to a very different kind of test.
Two Weeks to the Starting Line
TSI led the project from initial concept through final delivery, rapidly developing the track layout, race format and creative challenges that would shape the video. Our team translated a fast-moving brief into a fully executable production plan, coordinating the build, crew and shoot logistics required to deliver at Oracle headquarters on an accelerated timeline.
COTA, Built in Miniature
We designed the custom RC track as a miniature interpretation of Circuit of the Americas, incorporating recognizable turns and a series of playful obstacles designed to make the race more unpredictable. Working alongside Labyrinth Creative, TSI oversaw the design, fabrication and installation of the track environment before bringing a 20-person production crew on-site to capture the competition.
F1 Drivers, RC Trucks + 630k Views
Max Verstappen, Sergio “Checo” Pérez and Daniel Ricciardo raced personalized RC trucks around the finished course, bringing their competitive instincts and plenty of personality to the challenge. TSI captured the full race and handled editing, post-production and motion graphics for the final Oracle Red Bull Racing YouTube video, which has earned more than 630,000 views at the time of writing. The result combined experiential production, custom fabrication and entertainment-driven branded content into one highly shareable Driver Day experience.
